Dillon Brooks Injury Update: Suns Forward Exits Early After Left Hand Issue in Win Over Magic

Dillon Brooks Leaves Game Early With Left Hand Injury: The Phoenix Suns were hit with another major setback on Saturday as forward Dillon Brooks exited the matchup against the Orlando Magic with a left hand injury. He left the court in the first quarter after appearing to grab at his thumb following contact on a jump-shot contest. After evaluation, the Suns ruled him out for the rest of the game.

Brooks played just 7 minutes, scoring 5 points on 2-of-7 shooting with three rebounds before heading to the locker room. His injury came at a time when the Suns were already without star guard Devin Booker, who is out with a right hip strain and set to be re-evaluated next week.

How the Dillon Brooks Injury Happened

Brooks’ injury occurred after Magic big man contested his jumper, with visible contact on Brooks’ non-shooting hand. He immediately reacted in discomfort, checked out with 4:46 remaining in the first quarter, and did not return.

This setback comes right after he served a one-game suspension earlier in the week for picking up his 16th technical foul of the season.

    Brooks’ Season So Far

Brooks has been enjoying a strong debut season with Phoenix:

His scoring presence and defensive energy have been crucial to the Suns, especially during Booker’s absence.

Suns Overcome Injuries to Win in Double Overtime

Despite missing both Booker and Brooks, the Suns fought through early struggles and earned a dramatic 113–110 double-overtime win over the Magic.

The game was ultimately decided by Jalen Green, who hit a clutch game-winning three-pointer. Phoenix’s offense initially looked stagnant, but halftime adjustments by coach Jordan Ott shifted the pace and opened opportunities.

Key bench players stepped up in a big way:

    • Jordan Goodwin and Grayson Allen combined for 44 points
    • Ryan Dunn started the second half, replacing Brooks
    • Increased pace and early paint touches helped Phoenix turn the momentum

The victory showcased the Suns’ resilience and ability to adapt despite missing two key starters.

Brooks faces a quick turnaround if he hopes to play in the Suns’ next game against the Portland Trail Blazers. If he misses additional time, Phoenix will likely rely on:

    • Grayson Allen
    • Ryan Dunn
    • Jordan Goodwin

All three have already shown they can handle expanded roles.

With upcoming matchups against strong Western Conference teams—including the Celtics and Lakers—the Suns’ depth will be tested heavily.

A Crucial Stretch for the Suns

This injury puts Phoenix in a difficult but defining part of their season. Losing Brooks’ scoring and perimeter defense, along with Booker still sidelined, forces the Suns to lean on rotation players and tactical adjustments.

Still, their comeback win over Orlando proved they can compete under pressure and find new ways to win.

If Brooks’ injury turns out to be minor, Phoenix will breathe a major sigh of relief. If not, the Suns’ playoff push becomes even harder—and far more reliant on their supporting cast.
