UFC president Dana White has stepped forward to help the family of Maya Gabela, a 12-year-old girl who was seriously injured during a mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. White has offered to pay for Maya’s specialized treatment and support her family during the recovery process.

The offer focuses on providing advanced medical care outside Canada, giving Maya access to specialized rehabilitation as she continues to recover from her injuries.

Dana White Offers to Fund Treatment in Los Angeles

Dana White offered to cover the costs of moving Maya from BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver to a specialist medical facility in Los Angeles. In addition to the medical expenses, he also offered to pay for Maya’s family to stay in Los Angeles during her treatment.

The offer was made on March 25, and after carefully reviewing the options available, Maya’s family decided to accept the support.

Positive Health Update from Maya’s Family

Maya’s mother recently shared an encouraging update about her daughter’s condition through a message posted on Facebook.

According to the update, Maya has been moved out of the intensive care unit. Her mother explained that Maya is now aware and appears stable, which represents a major step forward in her recovery.

Family Explains Decision to Accept Treatment Plan

Before making their final decision, Maya’s family spent many nights researching medical options and speaking with specialists. They wanted to be certain that the move would give Maya the best possible chance at long-term recovery.

Ultimately, the family described the opportunity as a chance to pursue a more aggressive rehabilitation approach through private health care.

The family acknowledged that the move will be challenging because it requires leaving home, friends, and local support systems behind. Even so, they believe the opportunity offers the best path forward for Maya’s healing.

Focus Now on Recovery and Rehabilitation

At this stage, there is no official timeline for Maya’s travel to Los Angeles or details about the exact rehabilitation program she will receive.

For now, the focus remains on Maya’s continued recovery and preparing for the next stage of her treatment journey.

Her family and supporters continue to follow her progress closely and plan to share updates as new information about her rehabilitation becomes available.
