Russian star Daniil Medvedev delivered a dominant performance at the ATP 500 Dubai Tennis Championships, defeating American Jenson Brooksby 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. The match lasted just 57 minutes, as Medvedev controlled the contest from start to finish.

With this win, the world No. 11 secured the 64th semifinal appearance of his career and continued his strong run in the tournament.

    One-Sided Match From the Start

Medvedev set the tone early by breaking Brooksby’s serve in the opening game of the match. He was highly effective on the fast Dubai courts, winning 83 percent of his first-serve points and rarely allowing his opponent to settle into rhythm.

In the first set, the Russian added another break to close it comfortably at 6-2.

The second set was even more dominant. Medvedev broke serve three times and did not face a single break point. Brooksby struggled to create opportunities and managed only two winners in the entire set, as the match ended quickly at 6-1.

    Strong Form Continues in Dubai

Medvedev has not dropped a set so far in the tournament. Earlier rounds also saw comfortable wins, showing his confidence and consistency this week.

This marks his third semifinal appearance in Dubai. He won the title in 2023 and finished runner-up in 2024, making this venue one of his most successful stops on tour.

The result also gives him another deep run in the 2026 season following his early success earlier in the year.

    Semifinal Opponent and What’s Next

In the semifinal, Medvedev will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jiri Lehecka. Auger-Aliassime reached the final here last year, and a potential meeting would be a high-quality clash between two in-form players.

Medvedev will enter the next round with strong momentum and a chance to continue his push for another Dubai title.

Brooksby’s Run Ends After Solid Effort

Despite the heavy defeat, Brooksby had a positive tournament overall, reaching the quarterfinal stage with impressive earlier wins. However, against Medvedev’s consistent and aggressive play, he was unable to find solutions.

With his sharp serving, clean baseline play and confidence growing each round, Medvedev looks like one of the strongest contenders for the Dubai crown. If he maintains this level, his title challenge could go deep into the final weekend.
