Maxx Crosby Trade Cancelled: Ravens Back Out of Raiders Deal After Failed Physical

A major NFL offseason move has suddenly fallen apart. The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of their trade agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, according to an official statement released by the Raiders.

The deal, which was expected to send Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks, will no longer move forward. As a result, Crosby will remain with the Raiders and the Ravens will retain their draft selections.

The unexpected reversal has created a significant shift for both teams just days before the new NFL league year begins.

Raiders Confirm Ravens Backed Out of Crosby Trade

The Raiders publicly confirmed that the Ravens withdrew from the agreement late Tuesday. The organization released a short statement addressing the situation but did not provide further explanation.

The original agreement had been reached days earlier but could not officially be finalized until the start of the new league year.

    Report: Maxx Crosby Failed Physical

Shortly after the news broke, reports indicated that Crosby did not pass his physical, which likely led Baltimore to cancel the trade.

Physical evaluations are a required part of completing NFL trades. If a player fails the examination, teams can void the agreement before it becomes official.

Because the deal was never finalized, the entire transaction has now been reversed.

    Impact on Raiders’ Offseason Plans

The trade had been part of a larger rebuilding strategy by the Raiders. The franchise has been reshaping its roster and preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Las Vegas holds the No. 1 overall pick and is expected to build its future around a new quarterback. Moving Crosby was seen as a major step in that rebuilding process, allowing the team to collect valuable draft capital.

With the deal now voided, the Raiders will need to adjust their plans moving forward.

    Contract and Salary Cap Implications

The reversal of the trade could also create financial challenges for the Raiders.

Crosby is scheduled to earn $30 million during the 2026 season, and his contract carries a $35.8 million salary cap hit. The team had already been active in free agency under the assumption that Crosby’s contract would be removed from their payroll.

Now that the trade has been cancelled, that cap charge returns to the Raiders’ books.

    Ravens Lose Major Defensive Addition

For Baltimore, the deal would have added one of the league’s most dominant defensive players.

Crosby has built a reputation as an elite pass rusher and has earned multiple honors throughout his career.

The Ravens were reportedly willing to give up significant draft capital because they believe their current roster is built to compete for a championship around quarterback Lamar Jackson.

With the deal cancelled, Baltimore will need to explore other ways to strengthen its pass rush.

The cancelled trade represents one of the most dramatic reversals of the NFL offseason so far. The agreement originally appeared beneficial for both teams — Baltimore gaining a star defender and Las Vegas collecting valuable draft picks for its rebuild.

Instead, the situation has now returned to its starting point.

Maxx Crosby remains a Raider, the Ravens keep their two first-round picks, and both franchises must quickly reassess their plans heading into the 2026 season.
