The Kolkata Knight Riders have made a key addition to their backroom staff ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The franchise has officially appointed Dishant Yagnik as their new Fielding Coach, marking a fresh chapter in KKR preparation for the upcoming IPL campaign.
KKR confirmed the appointment on January 21 through their official channels, welcoming Yagnik into the “Knights Army” and highlighting his reputation for modern fielding methods and sharp technical insight. The move comes as part of KKR broader effort to sharpen every department after recent squad and staff reshuffles.
Dishant Yagnik Brings Proven Fielding Expertise to KKR
Dishant Yagnik joins KKR after a long and successful stint with Rajasthan Royals, where he worked as Fielding Coach for several seasons. During his time there, RR consistently ranked among the better fielding sides, earning praise for athletic catching, quick ground coverage, and sharp throwing standards.

Known for his detail-oriented approach, Yagnik focuses heavily on slip catching, boundary riding, diving techniques, and high-pressure match simulations—areas KKR management believes can give the team an extra edge in close IPL contests.
From Domestic Cricketer to Trusted Coach
A former wicketkeeper-batter, Yagnik represented Rajasthan in Indian domestic cricket for over a decade and also featured in the IPL as a player earlier in his career. After retiring from professional cricket in 2017, he quickly transitioned into coaching, building a strong reputation on the domestic circuit and in franchise cricket.
His background as a wicketkeeper is seen as an added advantage, especially in working closely with infielders and keepers on anticipation, reflexes, and positioning.
KKR Vision for IPL 2026
KKR management believes that strong fielding often decides tight matches in the IPL. With several explosive batting line-ups across the league, saving 10–15 runs per game through sharp fielding can be the difference between qualifying and falling short.
By bringing in Yagnik, KKR aim to raise overall athletic standards and maintain consistency across the long IPL season.
