The India cricket team continued their confident approach in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand cricket team by choosing to bowl first in the second match. The game is being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium.

After a dominant win in the first T20I at Nagpur, India made a few tactical changes, resting key players while giving opportunities to others as they look to seal the series early.

    Toss Decision and Team Strategy

India won the toss and elected to field, with captain Suryakumar Yadav explaining that dew was already visible on the surface. He added that chasing under lights could be easier, especially on a pitch that had earlier been used for an ODI and looked good for batting.

The Indian camp is keen to test its chasing combination, something they have not done often in recent matches.

Key Changes in India’s Playing XI

India made two notable changes from the first T20I:

    • Axar Patel has been rested following a finger injury sustained in the opening match.
    • Jasprit Bumrah has also been given rest as part of workload management.

In their place, Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav have been drafted into the XI.

New Zealand Ring in Changes After Heavy Loss

New Zealand, eager to bounce back after a heavy defeat in the first match, made three changes to their lineup. Tim Seifert, Matt Henry, and Jack Foulkes were brought in to strengthen both batting depth and bowling options.

Kyle Jamieson, Christian Clarke, and Tim Robinson were left out as part of the reshuffle.

    Captains Speak at the Toss

Suryakumar Yadav said the team wants to keep improving across all departments and repeat the intensity shown in the first match. He felt the wicket would produce runs and expected a competitive total from New Zealand.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner admitted his team learned tough lessons in the opening game. He stressed the need for clearer bowling plans and more pressure on Indian batters in this must-win encounter.

India currently lead the series 1–0 and will be aiming to take a 2–0 advantage. New Zealand, meanwhile, face a do-or-die situation and need a strong performance to stay alive in the contest.

The match begins at 7:00 PM IST, with conditions expected to favour batting in the second innings due to dew. With both teams fielding altered lineups, an exciting contest is on the cards in Raipur.
