The Golden State Warriors return from the NBA All-Star break with a high-profile home game against the Boston Celtics at Chase Center. However, the spotlight is once again on Stephen Curry’s injury status. The team has officially confirmed that the Warriors’ superstar will not play in tonight’s game as he continues his recovery from a knee problem.

The matchup is scheduled for 10:00 PM ET, but Golden State will have to face one of the league’s top teams without its leading scorer and playmaker.

Why Stephen Curry Is Not Playing

According to the Warriors’ official injury report, Curry has been ruled out due to right patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly known as runner’s knee. The condition causes pain and inflammation around the kneecap and usually requires rest and careful rehabilitation.

Curry has not played since January 30 and has now missed six straight games, including the All-Star break period. During the break, he focused on treatment and recovery, but he was unable to complete a full workout in the latest team practice.

Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed that Curry is still not ready for full activity and will continue to work with the team’s medical staff. The final decision was made after consultation with the Warriors’ performance and health team.

Impact on Warriors vs Celtics Game

Curry’s absence is a major setback for Golden State, especially against a strong Boston side. Without their primary offensive engine, the Warriors will depend on players like Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and the supporting lineup to handle scoring and playmaking responsibilities.

Boston, meanwhile, enters the game with momentum and could also see Kristaps Porzingis available after recent injury concerns. The matchup now becomes a tougher test for Golden State as they try to stay competitive without their franchise leader.

Curry had earlier indicated that his knee was improving, but the team is taking a cautious approach to avoid any long-term setback. This season, the injury has already forced him to miss 17 games, raising concerns about workload management as the playoff race intensifies.

For now, the Warriors will need to manage without their superstar. The focus remains on ensuring Curry returns fully healthy rather than rushing him back too soon. His recovery timeline will be closely watched as Golden State looks to strengthen its position in the Western Conference.
