Alex Pereira Signs Eight-Fight UFC Deal Ahead of Heavyweight Debut vs. Ciryl Gane

Alex Pereira has signed a new eight-fight contract with the UFC and will make his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of the UFC: White House show on June 14.

New contract and move to heavyweight

Pereira announced the new deal while speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show. He said he asked to move up to heavyweight and was happy with the response from the UFC. Pereira thanked UFC officials Mick Maynard, Hunter Campbell, and Dana White for the contract and support.

The fighter said he was willing to give up his light-heavyweight title to pursue the move. He told Helwani that he wanted to fight at heavyweight and try to win a belt in that division. Pereira described the contract offer as very good and said he felt taken care of by the promotion.

    Fight details: opponent and event

The match will be the co-main event at the UFC: White House show on June 14. Pereira will face Ciryl Gane in his first heavyweight fight. The card lists their bout as a high-profile matchup, though the full event lineup was not detailed in the announcement.

Pereira is entering the heavyweight ranks after leaving the light-heavyweight division. The move marks a major change in his career as he seeks new challenges and aims to pursue a title in the heavier class.

    Context and business reasons

Pereira is one of the UFC’s biggest stars right now. The company appears to want to keep him under long-term contract. That decision comes at a time when other well-known fighters and personalities are being attracted to outside promotions. Names mentioned in that wider context include Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano, Francis Ngannou, and Nate Diaz, who have drawn interest from Jake Paul’s MVP promotion for a planned event on Netflix.

Given that competition, the UFC’s new eight-fight deal ensures Pereira will remain in the Octagon for several more years. The contract gives the promotion a chance to build big fights around him at heavyweight and keep a major star on their cards.

The focus now shifts to preparing for the June 14 fight against Ciryl Gane. Pereira has said publicly that he wants to fight for a belt at heavyweight, and this debut is the first step toward that goal. Fans will watch closely to see how he adapts to the heavier division and how this bout affects his future title plans.

UFC Coverage will follow further updates on Pereira, his team, and the UFC: White House show as more information becomes available.
