Xavi Simons suffers major ACL injury: Tottenham midfielder Xavi Simons has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury. The 23-year-old picked up the injury during a Premier League match against Wolves.

The incident happened in the second half when Simons collided with a defender. He initially tried to continue but soon collapsed again in pain and had to be taken off on a stretcher. Later medical checks confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

Simons will undergo surgery and begin a long rehabilitation process. This type of injury usually takes around 6 to 9 months for recovery.

World Cup 2026 dream ends for Simons

The injury has not only ended his club season but also ruled him out of the upcoming World Cup. This is a huge personal setback as Simons was expected to play a key role for the Netherlands.

In an emotional message, he expressed his disappointment, saying his season ended suddenly and he is struggling to process the situation. He also shared that missing the chance to represent his country is very painful.

Despite the setback, Simons remains hopeful about returning stronger and supporting his team from the sidelines.

Huge blow for Tottenham in relegation battle

Tottenham are already struggling in the Premier League and this injury makes things even worse. The team is currently in the relegation zone with only a few matches left.

Simons was one of the few creative players available in the squad, especially after multiple injuries to key midfielders. His absence means the team will lack creativity and attacking spark in the final games.

Tottenham recently secured their first league win in 2026, but they still remain under pressure as other teams around them continue to pick up points.

Injury crisis at Tottenham: Key players missing

Tottenham have faced one of the worst injury-hit seasons. Several important players have been sidelined for long periods, affecting team performance throughout the campaign.

This long list shows how badly injuries have affected Tottenham’s season.

    Multiple ACL injuries raise concerns

One of the biggest worries is the number of ACL injuries in the squad this season. Simons joins other players who have suffered similar serious injuries.

This has raised questions about fitness, workload, and overall bad luck for the club. Losing multiple key players to long-term injuries in a single season is rare and has clearly impacted results.

What Simons brings and why his absence matters

Simons may not have had a perfect season, but he showed flashes of brilliance. He scored important goals, created chances, and brought energy to the midfield.

He was especially important in recent matches under the new manager, where he started to find form. His ability to unlock defenses and create opportunities will now be missed in crucial games.

Without him, Tottenham will depend on less creative options in midfield.

    Tottenham’s survival challenge gets tougher

With only a few matches remaining, Tottenham now face a very difficult task to stay in the Premier League.

The team needs points from tough fixtures, and losing a key player like Simons at this stage makes the challenge even harder. Other teams around them are also fighting for survival, making every match crucial.

The squad will need to step up collectively to cover for missing players.

    Recovery timeline and what’s next

Simons is expected to undergo surgery soon and then start rehabilitation. Recovery from an ACL injury is long and requires patience.

    Expected recovery phases

    StageTime
    SurgeryComing weeks
    Initial recovery2–3 months
    Rehab & training4–6 months
    Return to play6–9 months

His focus will now be on recovery and returning fully fit for next season.

Xavi Simons’ injury is a major setback both for the player and Tottenham. At a time when the club needed its best players on the pitch, losing another key figure has made the situation even more challenging.

For Simons, the focus now shifts to recovery and coming back stronger. For Tottenham, the final matches will test their depth, character, and ability to survive under pressure.
