    1. West Indies chase 418 vs Australia – 2003 (Antigua)

    The highest run chase in Test history came in 2003, when West Indies stunned Australia by hunting down 418 runs in Antigua.

    Shivnarine Chanderpaul (104) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (127) set the foundation with fearless strokeplay. When the match seemed to tilt again, Omari Banks and Vasbert Drakes held their nerve, adding a crucial 33-run partnership for the final wickets.

    It was the first time Australia ever lost after setting a target above 400 — a historic moment for Caribbean cricket.

    2. South Africa chase 414 vs Australia – 2008 (Perth)

    Nicknamed “The Miracle of Perth”, this chase announced South Africa as a world force.

    Captain Graeme Smith (108) and Jacques Kallis (102) led a clinical batting display as South Africa reached 414/4 with complete command. This victory also came after Dale Steyn’s match-turning bowling spell, making it one of South Africa’s greatest overseas wins.

    3. Australia chase 404 vs England – 1948 (Headingley)

    In Don Bradman’s final Ashes tour, Australia chased down 404/3 — an unbelievable feat in an era where even 300 looked out of reach.

    Arthur Morris hammered 182, while Sir Don Bradman remained unbeaten on 173*. Their partnership remains one of the most memorable Test batting masterclasses of all time.

    4. India chase 406 vs West Indies – 1976 (Port of Spain)

    India scripted history with a record-breaking chase of 406 runs.

    Sunil Gavaskar (102) and Gundappa Viswanath (97*) showcased exceptional temperament as India won by 6 wickets. It was the first time any Asian team successfully chased 400+ in Test cricket.

    5. West Indies chase 395 vs Bangladesh – 2021 (Chattogram)

    This modern-day miracle is remembered for Kyle Mayers’ unreal debut knock.

    Chasing 395, Mayers smashed 210 on debut*, guiding West Indies to a stunning three-wicket win. His innings is considered one of the greatest debut performances in Test history.

    6. Sri Lanka chase 391 vs Zimbabwe – 2017 (Colombo)

    Sri Lanka pulled off a gritty chase of 391/6, led by the calm and composed Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis.

    The partnership between them turned the match, as Sri Lanka successfully completed their highest Test chase.

    7. India chase 387 vs England – 2008 (Chennai)

    A special victory for India, coming just weeks after the emotional 26/11 Mumbai attack.

    Virender Sehwag’s explosive 83 changed the tone of the match, while Sachin Tendulkar (103*) anchored the chase beautifully. India finished on 387/4, winning the hearts of millions.

    8. England chase 378 vs India – 2022 (Edgbaston)

    England’s “Bazball era” began shaking the cricket world, and this chase was its biggest statement.

    Joe Root (142*) and Jonny Bairstow (114*) made the target of 378 look effortless, sealing the match with seven wickets in hand.
