San Antonio Spurs superstar Wemby (Victor Wembanyama) gave fans a brief injury scare during the game against the Philadelphia 76ers after appearing to hurt his arm during a physical play.

The young Spurs star went down holding his arm after contact during the game and stayed on the floor for several seconds. The moment raised concern inside Frost Bank Center as Wemby appeared to be in pain.

However, the situation quickly improved. After a short moment on the floor, Wemby got back up and continued moving before eventually heading to the locker room for further evaluation.

Soon after, he returned to the court during a timeout and looked comfortable again, easing concerns about a serious injury.

At halftime, the Spurs were leading the 76ers 62–55, with Wemby playing a major role in the team’s strong performance.

Victor Wembanyama seems to be getting a bit agitated with all the bumps and hits being doled out by the 76ers. Wemby went to the back with his right arm a little limp after getting what appeared to be a stinger when Paul George elbowed him in the shoulder. Doesn't appear serious.

Wemby went down holding his arm, but popped back up per usual after 30 seconds of pain and now looks like nothing happened. But he checked out and went straight back to the locker room.

Wemby Injury Scare After Physical Collision

The incident occurred during a tough sequence when Wemby absorbed contact around the shoulder area during a physical play.

He fell and grabbed his arm for several seconds, which made it appear like he had suffered a stinger-type impact. Observers noted that his right arm briefly looked limp after the hit.

Wemby just ran back onto the floor during the timeout and looks fine.

Despite the discomfort, Wemby initially stayed in the game. He showed some signs of pain while running up and down the court before eventually checking out and heading to the locker room.

The quick return later in the game suggested the issue was not serious.

    Wemby Dominates Early Against Philadelphia

Before the injury scare, Wemby was already dominating the game on both ends of the floor.

Joel Embiid Leads the 76ers Fight

Philadelphia remained competitive largely because of Joel Embiid’s strong first-half performance.

    Physical Game Brings High Intensity

The matchup featured heavy physical play, with Wemby receiving multiple bumps and hits during the game. At one point he appeared frustrated by the physical defense from the 76ers.

Despite the contact, Wemby still produced highlight moments. In one sequence, he chased down a loose ball near the sideline, used his long reach to recover it, stayed in bounds, and finished the play with a powerful dunk.

The play showed the unique combination of size, skill and athleticism that has made him one of the most exciting players in the NBA.

    Wemby’s Growth Continues This Season

Beyond single-game performances, Wemby’s development has been one of the biggest storylines of the season.

One major improvement has been his ability to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line more often. He is averaging around seven free-throw attempts per game, which is nearly three more than last season.

His ability to attack defenders, absorb contact and finish plays has made him even more difficult to guard.

Wemby is also converting those opportunities efficiently, shooting above 80 percent from the free-throw line, an impressive mark for a player of his size.

Why Drawing Fouls Is Important for the Playoffs

Drawing fouls becomes even more valuable in playoff basketball, where the pace slows down and teams rely more on half-court offense.

At 7-foot-4, Wemby presents a difficult matchup for defenders. He can shoot over opponents, drive to the rim or create contact when defenders try to stop him physically.

This skill could become a major factor in how far the Spurs can go when the postseason begins.

While Wemby’s development has been impressive, efficiency and decision-making will remain key areas of growth.

Stronger defenders and late double teams can sometimes force him into difficult shots. Improving shot selection and reading defenses will help him become an even more dangerous offensive player.

Even with those challenges, his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor already places him among the most exciting young stars in the NBA.
