West Indies cricketer Javon Searles has been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket after being charged with multiple breaches of anti-corruption regulations. The action comes as part of an investigation related to the Bim10 Tournament held in Barbados during the 2023/24 season.
Along with Searles, team official Trevon Griffith and team owner Chitranjan Rathod have also been charged under the anti-corruption codes that govern cricket competitions.
The charges were announced following an investigation conducted under the anti-corruption framework used by cricket authorities.
Charges Under Cricket West Indies Anti-Corruption Code
According to the announcement, all three individuals face charges linked to activities connected to the Bim10 tournament. The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Cricket West Indies Anti-Corruption Code, which regulates conduct in domestic tournaments organized in the region.
Chitranjan Rathod, who owns the Titans franchise, faces three charges, while Javon Searles has been charged with four offences. Trevon Griffith faces four charges under the CWI Code, along with an additional charge under international anti-corruption regulations.
The charges relate to allegations that include attempts to improperly influence the result or conduct of matches and failing to cooperate with investigators during the inquiry.
Key Allegations in the Investigation
Authorities say the accused individuals are charged with several violations under the anti-corruption code.
One of the main allegations relates to attempts to fix or improperly influence matches in the Bim10 tournament. Investigators also allege that the individuals encouraged or facilitated others to commit corruption offences connected to the competition.
Another charge concerns the failure to cooperate with an official anti-corruption investigation, which is considered a serious violation under the rules governing professional cricket.
Searles and Griffith also face separate charges for failing to report approaches or invitations that may have involved corrupt conduct during the tournament.
Additional Charge Against Trevon Griffith
In addition to the charges under the regional code, Trevon Griffith faces an additional allegation related to international anti-corruption regulations.
He has been accused of obstructing an investigation by concealing or tampering with information that may have been relevant to the inquiry. Authorities believe this information could have helped investigators uncover further evidence related to corrupt conduct.
Immediate Suspension from All Cricket
Following the charges, all three individuals have been provisionally suspended from participating in any form of cricket with immediate effect.
They have been given 14 days from March 11, 2026 to respond to the allegations and present their defense before disciplinary proceedings begin.
The suspension will remain in place while the case moves through the investigation and hearing process.
Investigation Linked to Wider Anti-Corruption Inquiry
The charges form part of a wider anti-corruption investigation connected to the Bim10 tournament. Earlier in the investigation, USA cricketer Aaron Jones was also charged with multiple breaches of anti-corruption rules in connection with the same inquiry.
Authorities confirmed that disciplinary proceedings are ongoing and further developments may follow as the investigation continues.
Officials stated that no additional comments will be made until the case reaches its conclusion.
Integrity of the Game Remains a Priority
Anti-corruption units across cricket continue to monitor tournaments and investigate suspicious activities to protect the integrity of the sport. Cases like this highlight the importance of strict enforcement of anti-corruption rules in domestic and international competitions.
The disciplinary process will now determine the outcome of the charges against the individuals involved.
