Drive to Survive Season 8: The Shocking Revelation

The release of Drive to Survive Season 8 on February 27, 2026 has brought global attention to Doohan’s difficult experience during the 2025 season.

In one of the most talked-about episodes, Doohan revealed that he received multiple violent threats before the Miami Grand Prix. The situation escalated to the point where his personal security had to be increased.

The episode also shows the intense pressure and toxic environment surrounding the young driver at that time. Formula 1 authorities confirmed that security measures were increased and stressed that abusive behavior has no place in the sport.

Alpine Exit: From Opportunity to Setback

Jack Doohan’s Formula 1 journey with Alpine began with high expectations but quickly became challenging.

After years in the Alpine Academy and serving as a reserve driver, he made his race debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. His performance earned him a full-time seat for the 2025 season alongside Pierre Gasly.

    However, the season proved difficult:

    • Crash at his home Australian Grand Prix
    • High-speed incident in Japan after a DRS issue
    • No points in the opening races
    • Heavy pressure due to team uncertainty

At the Miami Grand Prix, Doohan qualified 14th but retired on the opening lap after a collision. Shortly after, Alpine replaced him with Franco Colapinto, ending his race seat after just seven starts.

He spent the remainder of the season as a reserve before parting ways with the team in January 2026.

New Beginning: Haas Reserve Role in 2026

Doohan quickly secured a new opportunity. On February 3, 2026, TGR Haas F1 Team confirmed him as their official reserve driver.

With prior race experience and strong preparation during pre-season testing, he is first in line if Haas needs a replacement during the year.

The attention from Drive to Survive has also brought his story to a global audience, highlighting both the pressure young drivers face and the resilience required to stay in the sport.
