New Zealand domestic T20 competition, the Dream11 Super Smash (Men’s), has been a key part of the country cricket structure for nearly two decades. Launched in the 2005–06 season, the tournament has played a major role in developing local talent and preparing players for international cricket.

The league features six teams Auckland Aces, Canterbury Kings, Central Stags, Northern Brave, Otago Volts, and Wellington Firebirds and is played every summer. As of the 2024–25 season, a total of 20 editions have been completed, producing multiple champions and several memorable finals.

The most recent season saw Central Stags lift the trophy, becoming the defending champions going into the 2025–26 edition.

    Season Highlights & Key Moments

The 2024–25 season confirmed Central Stags as one of the most consistent teams in the competition. They defeated Canterbury Kings in the final to secure their fourth Super Smash title.

The 2023–24 season ended in unusual fashion, with the final washed out due to rain. Auckland Aces were declared champions after finishing at the top of the league table.

Over the years, the tournament has seen strong performances from players who later became New Zealand regulars, including Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Kane Williamson, and Tim Southee. The league continues to serve as a vital platform for emerging talent.

The Super Smash 2025–26 season will begin on 26 December 2025, with Central Stags entering as defending champions. With Auckland Aces aiming to reclaim their dominance and other teams strengthening their squads, the upcoming season promises another competitive chapter in the league’s history.
