Royce Keys officially began his WWE television journey with a strong debut performance on WWE SmackDown in San Jose, California. The former AEW wrestler stepped into the ring for his first televised match on the blue brand and secured an impressive victory against Berto.

The appearance marked an important moment in Keys’ career as he transitions fully into WWE programming after months of preparation and appearances behind the scenes.

Keys had previously appeared during the Royal Rumble match on January 31, which was his most recent televised moment before Friday’s SmackDown event. After that appearance, he competed in several dark matches ahead of SmackDown and Raw while preparing for his full return to WWE television.

The San Jose event finally gave Keys the opportunity to compete in front of a televised audience and begin his run on the SmackDown roster.

Match Recap: Royce Keys vs Berto

The match started with immediate intensity. As soon as the bell rang, Berto slapped Keys several times in an attempt to gain early control of the match. However, Keys quickly responded with his strength and power advantage.

Keys soon took control of the match with a strong powerslam that forced Berto to roll out of the ring to recover. Berto attempted to regroup with his tag partner Angle outside the ring, but Keys followed him and continued the attack.
