Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody has spoken publicly for the first time after undergoing surgery to repair a serious knee injury. The young forward shared a motivational message with fans while beginning a long recovery process that will keep him out for the remainder of the 2025–26 NBA season.

Moody suffered the injury during the Warriors’ overtime victory over the Dallas Mavericks on March 23. The incident occurred late in the game and immediately raised concerns for the team.

    How Moses Moody’s Injury Happened

The injury occurred during overtime in Golden State’s 137–131 win over Dallas. Moody made a defensive steal and had an open path to the basket, but his knee gave way when he attempted to jump.

The Warriors guard fell to the court and remained down for several moments before medical staff attended to him.

Although Golden State secured the win, Moody’s injury became a major setback for the team during an already difficult season.

    Warriors Confirm Successful Surgery

The Golden State Warriors later announced that Moody successfully underwent surgery to repair the torn patellar tendon in his left knee.

The team confirmed that Moody will begin rehabilitation immediately as he works toward a full recovery.

The surgery addressed the damaged tendon, and earlier medical scans confirmed there was no cartilage or bone damage in the knee. This allowed doctors to perform a more straightforward procedure.

    Moody Sends Message to Fans

Shortly after the surgery announcement, Moody shared a message with supporters on social media. It was the first time he publicly addressed the injury since the incident.

    Player Message
“I appreciate all of the love. Every challenge I’ve been through in life I’m glad I went through. I’m sure I’ll feel the same about this.”

The message reflected Moody’s positive mindset as he begins the rehabilitation process.

    Career-Best Season Cut Short

Before the injury, Moody was having the most productive season of his NBA career. The 23-year-old had become an important contributor for Golden State with strong scoring and perimeter shooting.

He also shot over 40 percent from three-point range and recorded 151 made three-pointers this season.

Moody’s improvement made him a key part of the Warriors rotation before the injury ended his season.

Steve Kerr Provides Update on Moody’s Mindset

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr shared encouraging words about Moody’s mental approach to the setback.

Kerr explained that Moody remained in good spirits after receiving the diagnosis and MRI results. According to the coach, the young forward has handled the situation with maturity and perspective.

The medical evaluation also confirmed that the injury involved the tendon only, without damage to surrounding structures in the knee.

    Warriors Dealing With Multiple Injuries

Moody’s injury is another challenge for Golden State, which has already dealt with several major absences this season.

Moses MoodyOut for season (patellar tendon)

The Warriors currently hold a 36–38 record and sit in the 10th position in the Western Conference standings. Despite the injuries, the team remains focused on securing a spot in the Play-In Tournament.

Without Moody’s scoring and energy on both ends of the floor, other players in the rotation will need to step up during the final stretch of the season.

    Recovery Timeline and Future Outlook

Moody now turns his attention fully to rehabilitation. Recovering from a torn patellar tendon typically requires several months of recovery and training before returning to game action.

While the setback ended his current season, the successful surgery and clean MRI results provide a clear path for his return in the future.

The Warriors remain hopeful that Moody will make a strong comeback next season as he continues his development as an important part of the team’s young core.
