The Denver Nuggets received an important injury update ahead of their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. Forward Aaron Gordon will not play in the game due to ongoing right hamstring injury management.

Denver initially listed Gordon as questionable before the game, but the final update confirmed that he would sit out the contest. The decision appears to be precautionary as the Nuggets manage his workload during a back-to-back schedule.

The team has been performing well recently and enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak. Denver is also pushing to climb the Western Conference standings and potentially move past the Los Angeles Lakers for the No. 3 seed.

Denver’s injury situation affects more than just Gordon. Several players are dealing with injuries or availability concerns ahead of the game.

With Gordon unavailable, Denver will need to adjust its rotation for the game against Dallas.

Aaron Gordon’s Role in Denver’s Success

Despite dealing with recurring hamstring issues during the season, Aaron Gordon has continued to play an important role for the Nuggets. His combination of scoring, rebounding and defense makes him one of the team’s most reliable forwards.

Across his appearances this season, Gordon has delivered strong production on both ends of the floor.

Gordon’s athleticism allows him to finish strongly around the rim while also spacing the floor with improved outside shooting. His ability to cut toward the basket and work alongside Nikola Jokić has made him an efficient scoring option in Denver’s offense.

Peyton Watson Injury Adds More Concern

Another player dealing with injury concerns is forward Peyton Watson. He has also been managing a right hamstring issue and was listed as questionable ahead of the Mavericks game.

Watson has already missed extended time earlier in the season, making his availability uncertain once again.

If Watson is unable to play, Denver’s depth at the forward position will be further tested.

    Nuggets Rotation Adjustments Without Gordon

With Aaron Gordon sidelined, the Nuggets will rely more heavily on other players in the rotation. Additional minutes are expected to go to Spencer Jones, Cameron Johnson and Peyton Watson if he is available.

Veteran center Jonas Valančiūnas could also see an increased role as Denver looks to maintain its interior presence during Gordon’s absence.

These adjustments will be important as the Nuggets try to extend their winning streak and maintain momentum during a competitive stretch of the season.

    Gordon’s Growth With the Nuggets

Aaron Gordon has become one of the most important players in Denver’s system. After beginning his NBA career with the Orlando Magic, he found a perfect fit with the Nuggets, where his defense, versatility and improved shooting elevated his overall impact.

Originally the No. 4 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Arizona, Gordon has developed from a high-flying dunk specialist into a complete two-way forward.

He played a major role in Denver’s championship run in 2023 and remains a key contributor to the team’s title ambitions.

    Long-Term Commitment From Denver

The Nuggets demonstrated their commitment to Gordon by signing him to a four-year contract extension worth $133 million in October 2024. The deal keeps him under contract with the franchise through the 2028-29 season.

Denver views him as a core player alongside Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray. His versatility and defensive ability make him a crucial part of the team’s long-term plans.

For now, the focus remains on managing his hamstring issue and ensuring he returns fully healthy. The Nuggets expect Gordon to be available again soon, with a possible return coming in their upcoming matchup against the Utah Jazz.
