The Golden State Warriors faced another setback on Friday night as superstar guard Stephen Curry was forced to leave the game against the Detroit Pistons due to right knee soreness.

Curry exited in the third quarter of the 131–124 loss at Chase Center, adding further concern for a Warriors team already dealing with major injury issues this season.

    What Happened During the Game

Curry left the court with 4:08 remaining in the third quarter after showing visible discomfort. He was seen limping toward the locker room and did not return for the remainder of the game.

At the time of his exit, Curry was the Warriors’ leading scorer and had been carrying the offense.

    Injury Background and Coach’s Update

This is not a new issue. Curry has been dealing with inflammation in the same right knee for over a week. He already missed one game earlier this month against Minnesota because of it.

Head coach Steve Kerr downplayed the severity in his postgame comments.

“I think he’s OK. It doesn’t feel like anything major,” Kerr said.
“It’s the same knee that’s been bothering him a bit. We’ll have more information tomorrow.”

According to Kerr, the team will reassess Curry before making any decisions regarding his availability for the next game.

How the Injury Affected the Warriors

Once Curry left the game, Golden State struggled to maintain offensive rhythm. The Pistons took control late, despite a brief Warriors push in the fourth quarter.

    Key team notes:

    • Warriors lost 131–124 at home
    • Offensive efficiency dropped without Curry
    • Patrick Spencer handled extended point guard duties
    • Team record fell to 27–23

With Jimmy Butler already ruled out for the season due to an ACL injury, the margin for error has grown thin.

Stephen Curry’s 2025–26 Season So Far

Despite missing time, Curry has remained highly productive when on the floor.

The Warriors’ offense continues to rely heavily on Curry’s shooting, movement, and leadership.

    What’s Next for Golden State

Golden State’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, giving Curry a few days of rest. The team is expected to provide an official update after further evaluation.

    At this stage:

    • No MRI has been announced
    • Kerr remains optimistic
    • Short-term rest is a strong possibility

Stephen Curry’s early exit is another reminder of how fragile Golden State’s season has become. While initial signs suggest the injury is not serious, even minor knee issues are significant for a player carrying such a heavy load.

The Warriors’ playoff hopes remain tightly linked to Curry’s health. All eyes now turn to the team’s next medical update, as Golden State looks to steady itself in a crowded Western Conference race.
