The Bangladesh government has clearly said that it is not satisfied with the decision of the ICC regarding the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. The government believes that player safety concerns were ignored, and justice was not done to Bangladesh.

Asif Nazrul, the sports advisor to the Bangladesh government, stated that:

    • The ICC and the BCCI did not make enough effort to assure Bangladesh about player safety.
    • Bangladesh requested that their World Cup matches be moved from India to Sri Lanka, but this request was rejected.
    • The government is not willing to change its decision due to unresolved security concerns.

Why Is Bangladesh Concerned About Security?

Asif Nazrul explained that Bangladesh’s concerns are based on real incidents, not assumptions.

    Main Reasons:

    • A top Bangladeshi player, Mustafizur Rahman, previously faced threats in India.
    • He was reportedly forced to leave India due to pressure from extremist groups.
    • According to Nazrul, the Indian cricket authorities could not ensure his safety at that time.

“If our player was not safe then, what has changed now?” Nazrul asked.

What Bangladesh Feels ICC Failed To Do

    According to the Bangladesh government:

    • ICC only talked about standard security rules, not the actual incident.
    • ICC did not try to convince Bangladesh that conditions had improved.
    • No reassurance was given about the safety of:
      • Players
      • Journalists
      • Supporters

Nazrul stressed that ICC does not control any country, and real security depends on local police and authorities.

    No Support From Indian Government

    Nazrul also said:

    • The Indian government did not contact Bangladesh.
    • There was no apology or explanation about the earlier incident.
    • No promise was made to ensure safety in the future.

Because of this, Bangladesh sees no reason to change its decision.

    BCB President Reacts Strongly

Aminul Islam, President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, strongly criticised ICC’s approach.

    His Key Statements:

    • A global body like ICC cannot give a 24-hour ultimatum.
    • Bangladesh will continue to fight for its rights.
    • Bangladesh is a major cricket-loving nation with nearly 200 million people.
    • Excluding Bangladesh could cause ICC to lose a huge audience.

    Aminul Islam concluded by saying:

“Our only demand is simple. Let us play the World Cup, but not in India.”

Bangladesh believes it was not treated fairly by the ICC. The government and cricket board insist that player safety comes first, and until they are fully convinced, they will not agree to play matches in India. The situation remains unresolved, and discussions may continue in the coming days.
