Mayu Iwatani Suffers Injury During Marigold Tour: Mayu Iwatani has been ruled out of action after suffering fractures in two places on her big toe. The injury was confirmed by the promotion on April 12, 2026.

The announcement came while Iwatani was competing during Marigold’s Spring Victory Series tour. Officials said she will be unable to compete for the time being, though no timeline has been given for her return.

    Injury Announcement from the Promotion

The promotion confirmed that Iwatani suffered two fractures in her big toe. Because of the injury, she will be sidelined until further notice while doctors evaluate her recovery.

The statement also noted that Maddy Morgan will miss upcoming shows after becoming ill following the Osaka event.

Both situations have forced adjustments to upcoming events on the tour.

    Match Before the Injury Announcement

The injury news came only hours after Iwatani competed on the tenth show of the Spring Victory Series.

During that event, she teamed with Yuuka Yamazaki in a tag team match. The pair defeated the team of Erina Yamanaka and Natsumi Showzuki.

The promotion has not confirmed whether the injury happened during that match or if it was caused by an earlier issue that became worse during the event.

    Titles Now in Question

At the time of the injury, Iwatani was holding two major championships.

She is the current Marigold Superfly Champion and also holds the GHC Women’s Championship, which she won earlier this year.

Because of the injury, the status of both titles is now uncertain. Officials will need to decide whether the championships remain with Iwatani during her recovery or if changes will be made.

    Long Career with Few Injuries

Mayu Iwatani has been one of the most consistent performers in women’s wrestling since her debut in 2011.

Throughout her career she has rarely missed time due to injury. Her longest absence came during the COVID-19 pandemic when she missed around two months.

Other injuries in her career included a dislocated shoulder in 2017 after a match with Toni Storm and a knee injury in 2019 that kept her out for a short period.

Because of her reputation for durability, this latest injury has surprised many fans.

    Impact on Upcoming Shows

The injury creates uncertainty for the promotion’s upcoming events during the Spring Victory Series.

Officials will need to adjust match cards and make decisions about how to handle Iwatani’s championships if her recovery takes longer than expected.

Fans are now waiting for updates about her medical evaluation and possible return schedule.

At the moment, there is no confirmed timeline for Iwatani’s return to the ring.

Medical evaluations will determine whether surgery or extended recovery will be required. The promotion will also decide how to manage upcoming shows and championship storylines while one of its top champions is out of action.

Fans will be watching closely for further announcements regarding Iwatani’s recovery and the future of the championships she currently holds.
