Robert Kraft shared his thoughts about the future of the New England Patriots after the team’s impressive 2025 season that ended with a trip to Super Bowl LX.

Speaking during the NFL annual meetings in Arizona, the Patriots owner praised the team’s performance and expressed his desire to keep two of the franchise’s young stars — Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez — with the team for many years.

Kraft Reflects on a Surprising 2025 Season

At 84 years old, Kraft said the Patriots achieved more than many expected during the 2025 season. He described the year as “wonderful” and said the team performed far beyond preseason expectations.

However, Kraft also acknowledged that the team will face a tougher schedule in the 2026 season. Despite the challenge, his main goal remains clear.

The Patriots want to reach the playoffs again, because once a team qualifies for the postseason, anything can happen.

Mike Vrabel’s Impact on the Patriots

The 2025 season marked a major turnaround for New England under new head coach Mike Vrabel.

Before Vrabel arrived, the Patriots had struggled with two consecutive 4–13 seasons in 2023 and 2024. But his leadership quickly changed the team’s direction.

Vrabel’s leadership and aggressive coaching style helped transform the team. Because of the dramatic improvement, he was named NFL Coach of the Year by both the Associated Press and the Pro Football Writers of America.

The Patriots also won the AFC East title for the first time since 2019 and reached their first Super Bowl since the 2018 season.

    Drake Maye’s Breakout Season

One of the biggest reasons for New England’s success was the outstanding performance of quarterback Drake Maye.

    Christian Gonzalez Anchors the Defense
